New Brood
As part of the Chapter Future Garden transdisciplinary team, artist Koen Vanmechelen selected New Brood as the artwork to integrate the ideations of group 3 with the feedback and reflections of the transdisciplinary team.
New Brood
For this group, I selected New Brood. This group created an Eco Time Capsule - an artifact to communicate with future generations, sharing both the legacy of the present and the mistakes that have shaped our world. Their message is one of accountability, of telling those in the future how previous generations have failed, and encouraging them to learn from it.
New Brood represents the act of breaking free, of pushing past boundaries. This artwork captures the group’s spirit of disruption, a willingness to dismantle what exists to make way for something new. The process is one of constant encapsulation and renewal—preserving certain elements while challenging and transforming others.
In New Brood, we see the hatching of new ideas and perspectives. Just as these figures break through the shell of the egg, they also break through limitations, symbolizing the courage needed to confront the past and shape a new future.
