On August 1, 2025, LABIOMISTA will host the first edition of the Wild Gene Festival – a one-day artistic celebration of live music, art, and human connection.
Artist Koen Vanmechelen and global music legend Youssou N’Dour join forces in a powerful co-creation. As Youssou N’Dour and Le Super Étoile de Dakar perform, Koen Vanmechelen will paint a monumental 9-metre canvas in real time - merging sound with gesture, rhythm with colour, music with meaning. Genk – the most diverse city in Flanders – sets the stage for this new initiative rooted in creativity, freedom, and shared diversity.
From the living artwork that is LABIOMISTA – where culture, nature, and community meet – the festival invites visitors to gather in respect and joy.
