The Present Moment
Meaning of the work
In this society, there is the ideology that we must constantly move and move forward. We keep going and pushing ourselves to the limit. But you can only keep pushing yourself so far until your body and mental well-being say stop. Standing still has the association that it is a waste of your precious time. It stands for not moving forward and not achieving anything. But standing still is also moving and moving forward. Because even when you stand still, things happen and there is movement. When you stop for a moment, and you give your body and mind the space to be and to be present. You then have the space to reflect, think, come up with new ideas, take in your surroundings, process things, and so much more. We are so pushed in this society to know what we want to do, become, where we want to go. But it doesn't work that way, you can't know in advance how our whole life will go, especially as a youngster. It's okay not to know yet, because even when you think your not moving forward, you are. It is important in this busy, hectic society to regularly stop in the moment and reflect and be one with yourself and your body. Standing still is an essential part of progress and movement. It is therefore important to often stand still to move forward.
